Jamaica- Hikers Paradise
Jamaica is very hilly. The hiking lover will find here to be a hiker's paradise. From gentle undulating hills to the formidable loft heights of the Blue Mountain Peak. The John Crow Mountains, The Cockpit Country. These heights span several parishes, so don't be too surprised if you start hiking above Kingston and descend into Portland. There are many signs so its not very easy to get lost. The locals are very friendly and once they are asked they will be more than happy to assist.
Prized possessions
I have two prized possessions that mean the world to me.One is a beautiful horse shoe shaped diamond ring that I never take off and the other is a Blue Mountain horse figurine. They both belonged to my mother who passed away when I was 18 years old. They may not have a huge commercial value to them but to me they are priceless! What prized possessions do you have?
"GOOD LUCK!" Are You Curious About This Cultural Belief? Read On...
Do you consider yourself a lucky person? I mean, have you had a lot of fortunate moments, like finding money, being in "the right place" at "the right time", and or the uncanny ability to win at betting, time after time, you know, stuff like that...We either are like that, or know someone like that or we are always trying to BECOME like that! LOL!:)I've always been curious, about this phenomenon called "Luck", and that's not just me... this belief seems to be a part of the daily lives of Human beings all over the world... from societies that have lived on islands and remote areas since they came onto Existance, to modern city dwelling societies, with all their trappings... (Quick question: Which society would you think to be the luckiest these days?)A Gift before we proceed: (I believe in sharing, it's Lucky! LOL!) http://www.mindpowernews.com/CreateGoodLuck.htmNow then, I always feel that there's got to be something of substance to a thing, especially when millions of people need it, want it, look for it, wish it for others, try to buy it, try to sell it, pray for it, or cast spells for it... even make love for it! (Hmmm... that NEVER gets old!:) )...
Is Poetry A Dying Art?
According to the Time Magazine June 18,2007 edition it is. I have been writing poetry since I was 12 years old and I have yet to recieve a dime for it, although people are quick to tell me how good my work is. Time Magazine says that Heiress Ruth Lilly, daughter of Eli Lilly,(Prozac creator) donated $200 million to The Poetry Foundation. Her plan was to help the foundation and get people to reading poetry again. So far, they say, it has not done much good.As a writer of poetry, I have to agree that the writing of poetry has become to much like a hoomework aasignment, than the free flow of natural feelings. There are poetry classes to teach you to write a certain way and to be honest, it just makes poetry boring and complicated as far as I am concerned.I guess I would have to say that my poetry is more modern. I don't write poetry that one hast to take a class to interpret. I write poetry that everyone can understand and relate to. Recently I submitted some of my work to Blue Mountain Arts and apparently they did not like any of my work. They discouraged me from sending poems that rhyme, but that is my best stuff. Maybe it was too juvenile for them, who knows. Then the...
America's favorite coffee.. results are in. What's your favorite?
My personal favorite is Folgers 100% Colombian. I was reading on AOL and they did a poll in the US, so here's the results. But what I want to know, is which do you prefer? Or maybe espresso? What is you favorite brand or coffee style? No. 9 (Tie) -- Café Bustelo ( I use this brand when making Cuban Coffee for my husband!!) Known as the poor man's gourmet coffee, it was originally founded by Gregario Bustelo in 1920s New York City. This deep-roasted, espresso-style coffee long-popular in Hispanic markets has made inroads among mainstream retail chains under the ownership of Rowland Coffee Roasters -- a.k.a. the Souto family -- whose coffee roots stretch back to 1800s Cuba. A 10oz package can cost as low as $1.99 in the U.S., and yet it's finished in a million-dollar Italian-designed roaster. No. 9 (Tie) -- Newman's Own Coffee The popular but pricey Newman organics brand, which includes a range of products from salad dressing to pet food, packages Vermont's locally roasted Green Mountain Coffee, Inc. In addition to organic growth processes, the coffee beans purchased for roasting are Fair Trade Certified. A 10-oz. bag of Newman's Special Blend runs about $7.50, but the name...
Do you write poems for greeting cards?
I found a list of greeting card companies that I wanted to share with you. I was bored at work and was looking for freelancing jobs and lo and behold found one on Craigslist for Blue Mountain Arts. They're paying $500 if your work is accepted for a greeting card submission and $50 for a poem anthology. When I looked up info on the site I came across positive reviews on the company and also found a link to greeting card companies you guys may find useful!Happy writing!
The scenic beauty and friendly people of Kerala
Have you heard of the state of Kerala in India? Kerala is blessed with it's vast greenery, spectacular scenic beauty, elegant beaches, extended backwaters, the blue mountain ranges of the Western Ghats and the literate, hygienic and cultured people. In fact Kerala has a unique possition in world tourism map. It is a land of versatile cultural and artistic items like the Kadhakali, the snake boats, the percussion instrument 'Chenda' and dynamic martial art - the 'Kalarippayattu'. Those who have some experience with Kerala may please come out with their comments.
First Love
Not all memories I had of Michael were bad. I mean I was with him for eight years so something seemed to be going right. I’m not a gusher and I don’t want to ever be with him again for all the hurt and pain he’s caused me, but I do remember some good times. The night he proposed to me was early April 2000. We were at a party at his fraternity house. I believe the band, Blue Mountain was playing. The truth was, he would take the ring out of his pocket and propose in front of everyone while playing one our favorite songs. He kept reaching in his pocket and then pulling his hand back out and then reaching in and pulling his hand back out. He was so nervous. Finally, we went home back to my place. He turned on the radio and played the Blue Mountain CD, got down on one knee in my living room, just the two of us and said, “Kristy, will you marry me?” Of course I would of. At that point in my life, we were destined to be together forever. I remember singing in the car with him with the top rolled down on his little red Miata. We would sing really loud even though we both couldn’t really carry a tune. The wind in our hair, our sunglasses on like we were the coolest people in the world,...
