| | | Black & Decker vs Mr Coffee or Bunn | | I have a cheaper model Black & Decker coffee maker, my daughter has a little better one. I do not like the way they are set up. On mine, the top leaks every time I take the pot out to get a cup of coffee. On hers, the pot leaks when I pour coffee into my cup! | | I LOVE my new Mr Coffee Frappe maker | | So I admit, I'm a coffee addict. Even almost 33 weeks pregnant, I still need my coffee. A few weeks before Christmas, I saw an ad for the Mr Coffee Frappe and thought it would be a cool kitchen toy to have, but sorta pricey. I mentioned this to my Mom and for one of our Christmas presents she sent us a giftcard to purchase one. Yesterday afternoon I headed over to bed, bath and Beyond with my giftcard and a 20% off coupon (saved $16!) to buy my new toy. I get home and make 1 Mocha frappe and it was okay. I figured that this would happen based on reviews I had read of the machine and just knowing that when you get a new appliance, you have to get used to it.Roll forward to today. I skipped my morning coffee and had juice instead. My husband gets up and starts asking about making Frapps. Here is everything we made today (the coffee didn't change b/c we were trying to determine how many times we could use the same coffee grounds and the frappe still taste okay):

| | I did a stupid thing today, I almost killed my Mr. Coffee machine! | | Today I decided to make coffee instead of green tea to try and help get rid of a migraine. I have one of those Mr. Coffee makers and I put the water and the coffee in Mr. Coffee but forgot to put the brown spout back where it should go and now I have hot water in my water container. Luckly it did not hurt the Mr. Coffee machine and I just wonder if anyone has done this before? | |

I had a 4 cup Mr. Coffee pot that I love, except the bottom was disintegrating, otherwise it worked well. A few weeks ago my husbands co-worker got upset because another co-worker used his 12 cup Mr. Coffee to make cocoa in, so my husband offered to buy the coffee pot off his co-worker. I went out and bought the 12 cup filters for the coffee pot and proceeded to make coffee.
This is what happened on Day one:I pour in 12 cups of water using the pot and only get 10 cups; which is why my first pot of coffee was strong. And it took over an hour to make.
Day two:
After I did a thorough cleaning, I thought I’d make 8 cups of coffee using only 3 scoops, (I used two to scoops on my other maker to make 4 cups) and it was still too strong. And then I poured in 4 cups of water, after that didn’t work, I added 2 more cups of water and removed the filter, hoping to get the right amount. It was still strong, but drinkable at this point. This time it took 35 minutes to make.
Day three:
I used two scoops, (remember this is the amount I used for my four cup maker) and poured in 8 cups of water. Again too strong and ended up just adding water directly to the pot itself making it... | |

While deciding, it slipped from my fingers and fell to the floor. I brought the broken pot up to the salesman with sorrow in my eyes, prepared to pay for it.He looked at me and laughed. He said they have so many of those pots that no one cares if one gets broken. | | What's causing this to wear away? | | Okay I have a Mr.Coffee auto drip coffee maker. Now as you can see in the attatched photo the warming plate has worn out spots. The machine is just over a year old. It does get used a lot in this house making maybe 5 to 10 pots a day. Now the question I have is what causes this to wear away like it shows? Is there any way to repair this as the pot seemas to stick to the worn out areas a lot as well. The glass pot also has the stuff on it ever so often. Is there a remedy? Is there something I am doing that I shouldn't be? HAHAHA! it bugs me as I don't want to buy another but the worn out area gets a lot hotter than the covered area. Please help? Thanks in advance all.
