| | Fine or Coarse Ground Coffee what to use | | I use Tim Horton's coffee for my Melitta coffee maker, not the electric kind, but the manual glass carafe with the coned filter. What happens is I boil the water, and then put the boiled water into the carafe. Now I have been using the find grind, but I found after the first two tries (it takes three fills to fill up the carafe, the water goes through ever so slowly. So I was wondering whether like in the old perculators, that perhaps I should switch to the coarse grind?

| | Coffee Beans | | I bought the wrong type of coffee yesterday. All I saw on the shelf was a deal to buy 2 pkts of "eight o'clock" coffee for $6 so I jumped at the chance. I didn't even read the packaging properly and just chose what I normally buy - the coffee in the gold packet. I didn't even check to see if it was ground coffee or whole beans. It ended up being whole coffee beans and I don't have anything to grind the coffee beans with.So what did I do? I put some coffee beans in a clear lunch glad ziploc bag and started pounding the bag with a hammer LOL It didn't quite work the first time because I didn't beat them down enough so I've just done another lot and am waiting for it to finish brewing. I hope it works this time.If this doesn't work, do you have any other ways I could grind the beans without using a proper ginding machine/equipment or whatever they call it? I need my coffee fix before I go to bed!!! | |

| | Coffee drinkers at home ...do you have a your preferences? | | I'm a coffee addict and drink more than I like to even admit to. Although I would prefer to have Dunkin Donuts available at all times of the day, in reality I have to make my own here in my apartment.
I have a drip coffee maker and I go through a couple of them a year since I'm so hard on them, but I love the aroma and even the noise that comes from the old fashioned percolator coffee pots. Plus with a percolator there's no need for filters.
I also prefer to grind my own coffee beans and when their on sale I will buy a couple of bags at Dunkin Donuts. Opening the fresh bag of coffee beans for the first time is such a pleasure for me because it always smells so good. There's something missing when I open a container of ground coffee, even though it still has that fresh aroma the beans always have a little something more as far as I'm concerned.
Do you drink coffee at home? Do you prefer a drip coffee maker or percolator? How about coffee beans or ground coffee from a can?

| | Your first cup of the day.......how do you make yours? | | When I get up in the morning, I always look forward to my first cup of coffee in the morning. Usually, I do not get my first cup until I have my kids settled down at the table for breakfast. I only allow myself one cup a day so I make sure it is just the way I like it!!! I make my cup of javva in the morning with my espresso machine, I first grind my coffee beans(no brand in particular,usually something with hazelnut flavor) and make my coffee and steam my milk.In addition to my hot milk, I add a couple teaspoons of sugar,a spoonful of chocolate syrup with lots of foam to my morning latte'. It's not as good as Starbucks but it does the trick!!
