| Coffee differences by region | | I love coffee especially Dark French or espresso roasts. But I am traveling to New Orleans later this month and started thinking about regional differences with coffee. I really like the New Orleans style chicory coffee blend. Last time through Miami airport, I tried some coffee from a Cuban owned coffee stand with their own special blend. I really like turkish coffee too with its strong thick sweet preparation. And there is Hong Kong style, Thai and Indian coffee with their own preparation or spices. What other kinds of regional or local specialities in coffee do you like? Any recipies you can share? | |
| | Coffee - any good instant (gasp!) coffees? | | I am close to being a coffee purist: I buy whole beans, good quality dark french or espresso roasts or a nice morning blend. I have a great manual coffee grinder; Plunger pots or 1-cup filters. But I do travel a fair amount and sometimes want a decent cup of coffee in my hotel room. Does anyone know of any decent brands of (gasp) instant coffee? I look in the grocery store and it is all freeze dried toxic avenger mud crystals. And the "vanilla vienna coffee" chemical poly-hypersaturated sweeteners mixes are no better. Any suggestions on a good instant coffee? | |
